Home Health Aide Program

Do you have the desire to help seniors live in their homes longer?

If so, a career in Home Health may be a great option for you! The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts employment of home health aides is projected to grow by 50% through 2018. Southern Technical Institute offers Home Health Aide in a variety of options that meet the minimum requirements mandated by the Federal government for agencies that receive Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement.

Home Health Aides (HHAs) go to a resident’s home, or work in a residential facility, to deliver health care to the elderly, ill, or disabled. A home health aide typically works with residents who need more extensive physical and/or medical care than a typical family can provide. HHAs help their clients with everyday activities such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, exercising and grooming.

The Home Health profession is expanding dramatically both locally and nationally with an abundance of employment opportunities for caring for the needs of the elderly, handicapped or those recovering from an illness or injury. As a home health aide you will visit client’s homes to administer the personal care they need.

The Home Health Aide program offered at Southern Technical Institute provides the necessary training and skill set to prepare students for employment as a home health aide. You will learn how to maintain bodily and emotional comfort and to assist the client toward independent living in a safe environment.
